Below are some of the types of specialist vehicles we currently have in the fleet:
Wagons and Drags (Drawbars)
Eddie Stobart Ltd operates a fleet of specialised drawbar vehicles which operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Also known as “Road Trains”, they are designed and built to suit individual customer needs. Each drawbar has a carrying capacity of 28 tonnes and can carry up to 30 GKN pallets on the floor. The average age of the fleet is approx 18 months and all drawbars are fitted with a sophisticated, satellite tracking device. These vehicles are planned and controlled from one control centre by highly experienced planners which enable us to maintain a superb level of customer service.
Refrigerated Transport
Refrigerated transport is operated throughout the UK and Europe using the latest technology to offer customers flexible loading options which create cost and efficiency advantages. State-of-the-art trailers have computerised chill and freeze facilities that allow the driver to monitor the status of the load at any time during the journey. Internal movable bulkheads and decks allow any combination of ambient, chilled and frozen goods to be carried in a single load. Satellite tracking and precise scheduling maintains consistently achievable time-sensitive delivery levels.

Eddie Stobart Ltd is currently involved in the movement of products for the paper recycling industry. This involves the use of the latest ‘walking floor’ type equipment. This equipment can be used for the movement of all types of high volume bulk materials, scrap paper, wood shavings, composts etc. The design of the trailers also allows for the safe loading of general palletised cargo which can either be walked on or off the trailer or loaded via a conventional loading dock.

High Volume European MEGA Trailers
Eddie Stobart Ltd operate a fleet of high volume Mega Trailers operating at a maximum running height of 4 metres, which comply with the strict height restrictions of our European neighbours. They are manufactured using special low profile axles reducing the loading deck to the lowest possible level, maximising the internal volume. They are a highly versatile piece of equipment, capable of loading many types of product in various ways. They can load either from the rear, through the side or by crane through the roof by the use of a special opening roof mechanism. The volume capacity of these trailers is over 100 cubic metres and have an internal height of approximately 3 metres. The roof can also be lifted to maximise the access for larger items. The complete versatility of these trailers ensures that we can accommodate almost any type of freight.
Heavy Haulage
The Eddie Stobart Ltd heavy haulage service operates a combination of tractor and trailer units up to CATEGORY 2 Status specialising in the movement of heavy equipment such as machinery and plant for all sectors of Industry. The category 2 outfits operate up to 65 tonnes and feature specialised loading equipment, including outriggers and heavy-duty winches. The heavy haulage division operates throughout the UK and Europe.
In some cases specialist vehicles are acquired to operate in the customer's livery. This option allows the customer a continuity of image, with Stobart expertise in fleet management protecting their reputation and ensuring a reliable and cost effective flow of product to their customer.
